Our Story
One square mile. One hundred and eighty years of baseball history. One glove maker who refuses to cut corners.
Baseball Is in Our DNA
Mile Square Gloves was born long before the first glove was designed. Its story begins in Hoboken, New Jersey.
I was born and raised in Hoboken, the city generations of locals proudly know as the Mile Square City. It is a place with its own personality, its own toughness, and an incredible sense of pride. Growing up there taught me the value of hard work, loyalty, competition, and never forgetting where you came from.
On June 19, 1846, the Elysian Fields in Hoboken hosted what is widely recognized as the first recorded organized baseball game played under the Knickerbocker rules — an important milestone in the development of the game we know today. Before the Major Leagues. Before packed stadiums. Before television contracts, million-dollar players, and legendary brands, men gathered on a field in Hoboken and played a game that would become part of the fabric of America.
For someone born and raised there, baseball isn't simply a sport connected to my hometown. It's part of our DNA.
My own journey eventually took me far beyond Hoboken. I served in the United States Army, worked in law enforcement, built businesses, raised a family, and eventually found myself back around baseball, helping coach and develop young players. The more time I spent around today's game, the more I began thinking about the equipment players use — especially the one piece that becomes almost an extension of the player: the glove.
A great glove develops a personality. It breaks in around your hand. The pocket becomes yours. The leather carries the dirt, sweat, practices, games, victories, errors, diving plays, and memories of a player's career. I began wondering why players often had to spend hundreds of dollars simply to wear a particular name stamped into the leather. That led to a simple question: what if we built a premium baseball glove around the player instead of around the logo?
That question became Mile Square Gloves. The name honors where I came from. The glove honors the game that came from there.
More than 175 years ago, baseball history was being written at Elysian Fields in Hoboken. Today, we're proud to carry a little piece of that history forward — every glove bearing the name of the city where my story began, and where one of baseball's most important stories began.
